Este Haim (of HAIM) & Chris Stracey have been hired to score the upcoming coming-of-age drama Suncoast. The film is written and directed by Laura Chinn (Florida Girls) and stars Nico Parker, Laura Linney and Woody Harrelson. The movie is based on Chinn’s own life and follows a teenager living with her strong-willed mother who must take her brother to live at a specialized facility, where she strikes up an unlikely friendship with an eccentric activist. Jeremy Plager (Champions), Francesca Silvestri (The Florida Project, Starlet), Kevin Chinoy and Oly Obst (The Lovebirds, The Resident) are producing the Searchlight Pictures production. Haim & Stracey have previously scored the 2021 Netflix series Maid and last year’s feature Cha Cha Real Smooth. Suncoast is expected to premiere this year.
Stracey’s other recent projects include Riley Keough’s & Mato Gammell’s War Pony, which premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and has been picked up by Momentum Pictures for a U.S. release this year, as well as John Trengove’s Manodrome, which just premiered earlier this year at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival.
