The team behind the sound mixing of Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick has won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing in the Motion Pictures – Live Action category at tonight’s 59th annual Cinema Audio Society Awards ceremony at the InterContinental in Downtown Los Angeles. Scoring mixers Al Clay & Stephen Lipson, along with production mixer Mark Weingarten, re-recording mixers Chris Burdon & Mark Taylor and foley mixer Blake Collins received the award for the film scored by Harold Faltermeyer, Hans Zimmer, Lady Gaga & Lorne Balfe. In the Motion Pictures – Animated category, scoring mixer Peter Cobbin & Kirsty Whalley were honored as part of the sound mixing team of Netflix’s Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (scored by Alexandre Desplat).
