Executive producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner announced today that Rihanna will perform the Academy Award-nominated song Lift Me Up from Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the 95th Oscar, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, on Sunday, March 12, 2023. The song, which is written by Tems, Rihanna herself, Coogler & the film’s composer Ludwig Göransson, is one of the five nominated songs in the Original Song category. The other four nominated songs (Naatu Naatu from RRR, Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick, This Is a Life from Everything Everywhere All at Once & Applause from Tell It Like a Woman) are also expected to be performed live.
