Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Bombshell, Spy, Tropic Thunder, Ghostbusters, Marley & Me) has composed the original score for the first episode of the new Showtime original series Yellowjackets. Craig Wedren (Role Models, We Hot American Summer, The School of Rock, GLOW) & Anna Waronker (Shrill, Call Me Kat, The Republic of Sarah) are scoring the later episodes of the show created by Ashley Lyle & Bart Nickerson and starring Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Warren Kole, Ella Purnell, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Sophie Nélisse, Steven Krueger and Jasmin Savoy Brown. The drama follows a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. Lyle & Nickerson are also executive producing the project with Drew Comins of Creative Engine and Jonathan Lisco (Halt and Catch Fire). Karyn Kusama who previously collaborated with Shapiro on the features Girlfight, The Invitation and Destroyer, directed and executive produced the pilot episode. Yellowjackets is premiering tonight on Showtime.
Shapiro’s other upcoming projects include Apple TV+’s Severance and Waronker also has the Apple TV+ animated series Harriet the Spy (to premiere on November 19), as well as Season 2 of Fox’s Call Me Kat (to premiere on January 9, 2022) coming up.
