Nitin Sawhney (The Namesake, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, Traitors, Breathe, Lila Says) has been tapped to score the upcoming British romantic comedy What’s Love Got to Do With It?. The film is directed by Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth, The Four Feathers) and stars Lily James, Shazad Latif, Emma Thompson, Rob Brydon, Asim Chaudhry, Sajal Ali and Shabana Azmi. No plot details have been announced yet for the movie, which is set between London and South Asia and centers on a cross-cultural romance. Jemima Khan (The Case Against Adnan Syed) wrote the screenplay and is also producing with Nicky Kentish Barnes (About Time, Everest) for Instinct Productions, alongside Working Title Films‘ Eric Fellner & Tim Bevan (Atonement, Baby Driver, Love Actually). What’s Love Got to Do With It? is expected to be released in 2022.
As previously reported, Sawhney also has recently scored Claire McCarthy’s The Colour Room, which will be released in select UK theaters and on Sky Cinema this Friday, November 12.
