Antonio Pinto (City of God, McFarland, USA, Amy, Lord of War, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind) is attached to score the upcoming drama Aleppo. The film will be directed by David Schurmann and tells the story of a U.N. journalist who teams up with a Syrian boy refugee as they attempt to escape Syria in order to survive. Olivia Munn is attached to star in the MiLu Entertainment production. Beto Dantas wrote the screenplay. Pinto has previously collaborated with Schurmann on the director’s last feature Little Secret (Pequeno Segredo). Aleppo is currently in pre-production. No production start date has been announced yet. (Deadline)
Pinto’s other recent projects include Reinaldo Marcus Green’s Good Joe Bell, which premiered earlier this month at the Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by Solstice Studios for a theatrical release this coming awards season, as well as Edson Oda’s Nine Days, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is to be released in theaters on January 22, 2021 by Sony Pictures Classics.
