Jeff Russo (Fargo, Star Trek: Picard, Legion, The Umbrella Academy, The Night Of) is composing the original score for the new Starz original series Power Book II: Ghost. The show is created by Courtney A. Kemp and stars Michael Rainey Jr., Naturi Naughton, Mary J. Blige, Shane Johnson, Gianni Paolo, Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Daniel Bellomy, Paige Hurd,” Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Melanie Liburd, Justin Marcel McManus, Woody McClain, Lovell Adams-Gray and LaToya Tonodeo. The drama is a spin-off of Starz’s Power, which premiered between 2014 and 2019, and picks up shortly after the events of the original series as Tariq St. Patrick grapples with a new world order: his father dead and his mother facing charges for the murder her son committed. Kemp is also executive producing the Lionsgate TV production with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton (300, Immortals, Den of Thieves), Chris Selak, Danielle De Jesus, Shana Stein (Hell Ride) and Bart Wenrich. Russo has previously scored all episodes of the original Power series. Power Book II: Ghost will premiere on September 6, 2020 and will air Sunday nights on Starz.
Among Russo’s other upcoming projects are the fourth season of FX’s Fargo (premiering on September 27), the third season of CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery (premiering on October 15) and the new Amazon original series Utopia (premiering on September 25).
Jesus Christ, there are more composers than Russo, Balfe and Desplat…
Russo did the score of the first series so it makes sense that he’s doing the second one. And Desplat has barely worked this year, he’s only done the next Clooney film and Pinnochio which is coming out next year. And both Russo and Balfe have additional composers working with them so that’s why they do so many proyects.
How can an artist submit music to the show?
Hello, is there anywhere I can listen to the score for Power Book 2?
