The National members Bryce Dessner & Aaron Dessner have composed the original music for the upcoming documentary What Will Become of Us. The film is directed by Academy Award-nominated documentarian Steven Cantor (Dancer, Step) and centers on Sir Frank Lowy, the billionaire co-founder of Westfield Corporation as he faces a dilemma: whether or not to sell his multinational company, his life’s work and legacy. Dani Drusin, Jamie Schutz and Nina Chaudry are producing the project. Bryce & Aaron Dessner have previously co-scored the documentary Mistaken for Strangers and the 2016 feature Transpecos and also contributed music to Michael Polish’s Big Sur. What Will Become of Us will premiere next month at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival.
Bryce Dessner who also contributed music to Alejandro Inarritu’s The Revenant also has Fernando Mereilles’ Netflix original movie The Pope starring Jonathan Pryce & Anthony Hopkins coming up. He also scored the Johnny Depp-starring drama The Professor (originally entitled Richard Says Goodbye), which premiered at last year’s Zurich Film Festival and will be released in theaters and on VOD later this year by Saban Films.
I saw this movie. It’s incredible. Cantor is one of the most gifted directors working today. It’s a love story and an incredible look at the life of Frank Lowy, himself a remarkable man with quite a story to tell. Don’t miss his. Music score is wonderful. Cantor is God.
