Henry Jackman has confirmed in a recent interview with Film.Music.Media that he is set to score the upcoming Netflix original movie Dhaka. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Sam Hargrave and stars Chris Hemsworth, David Harbour, Golshifteh Farahani, Randeep Hooda and Rudhraksh Jaiswal. The action adventure follows a mercenary who has to liberate a kidnapped Indian boy who is being hidden in Dhaka and has to come to terms with his identity and sense of self. Joe Russo (Avengers: Infinity War) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the AGBO Films production with his brother Anthony Russo, Mike Larocca (The Drop), Eric Gitter (Atomic Blonde) and Patrick Newall (The Old Man & the Gun). Jackman has previously collaborated with the Russo brothers on Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War. Dhaka is currently shooting and is expected to premiere next year on Netflix.
As previously reported, Jackman also has Rob Letterman’s Pokemon: Detective Pikachu coming up. The composer has also recently co-scored the sci-fi thriller IO with Alex Belcher. The film is directed by Jonathan Helpert and stars Margaret Qualley, Anthony Mackie and Danny Huston. The movie revolves around a young scientist who searches for a way to save a dying Earth and finds a connection with a man who’s racing to catch the last shuttle off the planet. IO will premiere on January 18 exclusively on Netflix.
