Back Lot Music will release the official soundtrack album for the drama Victoria & Abdul. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Thomas Newman (American Beauty, The Shawshank Redemption, Finding Nemo, Skyfall, Erin Brockovich). The soundtrack will be released on September 22, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Victoria & Abdul is directed by Stephen Frears (Philomena, The Queen, Dangerous Liaisons) and stars Judi Dench, Ali Fazal, Eddie Izzard, Adeel Akthar and Michael Gambon. The movie revolves around Queen Victoria’s unlikely friendship with Abdul Karim, a young clerk, who travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Newman may not be one of my favorite composer’s, but I’m still always excited when he has a new soundtrack coming out. And, since this one is almost guaranteed to have Indian style music, I am definitely looking forward to this one.
