Nick Thorburn is scoring the upcoming indie comedy Ingrid Goes West. The film is directed by Matt Spicer (Ceremony) and stars Aubrey Plaza, Elizabeth Olsen, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Wyatt Russell and Billy Magnussen. The movie follows a young woman who becomes obsessed with an Instagram lifestyle blogger and moves to Los Angeles to try and befriend her in real life. Spicer also co-wrote the screenplay with David Branson Smith. Plaza is also producing the project with Jared Goldman (Adult Beginners, Wilson), Tim White & Trevor White (LBJ, The Good Neighbor), Adam Mirels and Robert Mirels. Thorburn is best known as the frontman of the Islands, The Unicorns and Mister Heavenly. His previous scoring credits include the 2002 documentary Only the Young. He also composed the themes for Amazon’s The New Yorker Presents and Sarah Koenig’s Serial podcast. Ingrid Goes West is set to have its world premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival.
