Julian Wass is composing the score for the upcoming indie drama Blue Jay. The film is directed by Alex Lehmann and stars Mark Duplass and Sarah Paulson. The movie follows two former high-school sweethearts who reflect on their shared past through the lens of their differently dissatisfied presents when they return to their tiny California hometown. Duplass has also written the screenplay and also serves as an executive producer on the project with his brother Jay. Mel Eslyn (The One I Love, Lamb) and Xan Aranda are producing the project. Wass has previously scored the Duplass brothers-directed The Do-Deca Pentathlon, as well the Duplass-produced features The Overnight and 6 Years and TV show Animals. Blue Jay will premiere next month at the Toronto Film Festival and will be released on October 7 in theaters and on October 11 on VOD by The Orchard.
