Composer John Powell and singer/ songwriter Jónsi were honored with an Annie Award in the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production category for the music from DreamWorks Animation’s hit animated film How to Train Your Dragon 2. Producer Bonnie Arnold accepted their award at the ceremony at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles. The other contenders in the category were Danny Elfman for Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Nicole Renald for Cheatin’, Bruno Coulais & Kila for Song of the Sea and Joe Hisaishi for The Tale of Princess Kaguya . Powell has previously won four Annie Awards for the original How to Train Your Dragon film, as well as the features Kung Fu Panda and Shrek and the short Kung Fu Panda: Secret of the Furious Five. The soundtrack for How to Train Your Dragon 2 is available on Relativity Music Group.
In the Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production category, Christopher Willis was honored with his second Annie Award for Disney Television Animation’s Disney Mickey Mouse. The composer accepted his award in person.
