O’Bannon (Farscape) and starring Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Jaime Murray, Tony Curran, Graham Greene, Mia Kirshner and Fionnula Flanagan. Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead) is composing the show’s score. It has been announced this past week that the composer’s new label Sparks & Shadows will release a soundtrack album later this year. A soundtrack for the crossover MMO video game is already available. Defiance is set in a post-apocalyptic future St. Louis after a lengthy war on Earth between humans and a consortium of invading alien races has completely transformed the surface of the planet. The show will air every Monday night on Syfy. To learn more about the series, visit the official show website.

Missing from last week’s TV roundup was the four-hour mini-series Eve of Destruction directed by Rob Lieberman (Earthsea), written by Richard Beattie (True Justice) and starring Steven Weber, Christina Cox and Treat Williams. The two-parter follows two scientists who attempt to discover unlimited energy when their experiment is sabotaged by eco-terrorists, which results in a dark energy black hole that could destroy the planet. The project’s music is composed by Shawn Pierce (Defying Gravity, Haven). Eve of Destruction aired in two parts this past Friday and Saturday on the ReelzChannel and will be airing in repeats over the next couple of weeks. For more information on the mini-series, visit Reelz’ official website.
I thought seeing as how the name of this site is film music reporter that there would be some information about the sound track of the movie Mary and Martha. Telling me that the film is playing on HBO on Saturday is not news.
