Rhino Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1960s TV series The Monkees created by Bob Rafelson & Bert Schneider and starring David Jones, Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith & Peter Tork. The album features the songs from the show’s first season by the titular band, including 14 rare, broadcast-exclusive TV mixes created especially for the comedy and more than two dozen songs from the season. Tracks include the theme song written by Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart, the Neil Diamond-penned Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow) and Gerry Goffin and Carole King’s Take a Giant Step. Made for TV: Official Soundtrack to Season 1 of The Monkees will be released digitally on August 14 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The album is also being released as a Lp/2-CD/Blu-ray box set on the same day (visit Amazon to order). A first track (She (Mono TV Version)) is already available to stream/download now and can also be checked out after the jump. The Monkees premiered between 1966 and 1968 and is now available on DVD.
