Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the sci-fi thriller Disclosure Day directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Eve Hewson, Colin Firth and Colman Domingo. The film’s original music is composed by John Williams (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Schindler’s List). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today and a CD and vinyl edition will be coming out in the coming months. Also opening wide is the Hong Kong action movie The Furious directed by Kenji Tanigaki and starring Xie Miao, Joe Taslim, Joey Iwanaga, Yang Enyou and Brian Le. Elliot Leung (Operation Red Sea, The Rescue, Operation Avalanche, Cesium Fallout, Freelance, Warriors of Future) and Olivia Xiaolin have composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score today and Brainfeeder has released the original song Mudhole by Flying Lotus as Captain Murphy last week. Train! directed by Adam Shankman and starring Ginger Minj, Jujubee, RuPaul, Latrice Royale, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Monét X Change, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Symone, Rachel Bloom, Matt Rogers, Lisa Rinna and Nicole Richie. The film’s original music is composed by Jacques Brautbar (Bob Trevino Likes It, Supercool, Skywalkers: A Love Story, Ravage, Phobias, Black as Night, It Ain’t Over, Kings of Beer). CAM Sugar has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past February when the movie premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Opening in select theaters today before premiering on Netflix on June 24 is the drama In the Hand of Dante co-written and directed by Julian Schnabel and starring Oscar Isaac, Gal Gadot, Gerard Butler, John Malkovich, Sabrina Impacciatore, Louis Cancelmi, Franco Nero, Paolo Bonacelli and Martin Scorsese. The film’s original music is composed by Benjamin Clémentine who also appears in the movie. No soundtrack album has been released yet. The drama, which follows a writer who helps a mob boss steal Dante’s handwritten “Divine Comedy” manuscript as a parallel tale follows the 14th-century poet creating his masterpiece, premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival.
Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the psychological thriller This Tempting Madness co-written and directed by Jennifer E. Montgomery and starring Simone Ashley, Austin Stowell and Suraj Sharma. Rebekka Karijord (I Am Greta, All the Old Knives,, Explorer, Raptures, Songs of Earth, Pray, Obey, Kill) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which follows a woman who awakens from a coma severely battered, her memory a blur and her husband missing and starts to question her own action as she starts together the pieces of her past, is being released by Vertical.
Opening in select theaters while also premiering on Netflix today is the Mexican stop-motion animated feature I Am Frankelda (Soy Frankelda) written and directed by Arturo Ambriz & Roy Ambriz and starring Mireya Mendoza, Arturo Mercado Jr, Luis Leonardo Suárez, Gabriela Cárdenas, Fela Domínguez and Beto Castillo. The film’s original music is composed by Kevin Smithers who previously scored the Frankelda’s Book of Spooks TV series. Air-Edel Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last fall in Latin America when the movie opened in Mexican theaters. The animated film is making its worldwide premiere on Netflix.
