Michael Abels (Get OutNope, UsSirens, Star Wars: The AcolyteThe Burial, Landscape with Invisible Hand, See You YesterdayBreaking) is scoring the upcoming South Korean sci-fi/action thriller Hope. The film is directed by Na Hong-jin (The Wailing, The Yellow Sea) and stars Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell and Cameron Britton. The movie follows a local police chief who is alerted when a tiger has appeared in the town’s hills. What begins as a local emergency soon spirals into a terrifying mystery that forces the town’s residents to confront the unknown. The project is produced by Forged Films and Plus M Entertainment. Hope will premiere this month at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and will distributed in the U.S. by Neon and in numerous international markets by MUBI.

As previously reported, Abels also has Justin Liberman’s feature An Ode to Mary Jo coming up.. He is also expected to return to co-score the second season of Peacok’s The ‘Burbs.
