Will Bates (ImmaculateThe Magicians, Dumb Money, Away, UnbelievableThe Life ListThe Path, I Origins, The Looming Tower, Bliss) has composed the original score for the upcoming drama Rosemead. The film is directed by Eric Lin and stars Lucy Liu, Lawrence Shou, Orion Lee, Jennifer Lim, James Chen and Madison Hu. The movie is based on a true story and follows a Chinese immigrant mother who is driven to desperate measures by her unstable son’s escalating mental health crisis and growing obsession with mass shootings. Marilyn Fu (The Sisterhood of Night, The Honor List) wrote the screenplay. Liu is also producing the project with Mynette Louie (Swallow, The Tale) and Andrew D. Corkin (A Vigilante, The Desperate Hour). Actor Theo James is among the executive producers. Rosemead will premiere this month at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival.

Bates’ other recent projects include the Prime Video limited series The Better Sister, which just premiered last week. He also continues to score AMC’s Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, which will return for a third season.
