Hans Zimmer (Inception, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Dune, Interstellar) has composed the main title theme for the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series Chief of War. The composer has also teamed up with James Everingham (Apollo: Missions to the Moon, The Real Right Stuff) (for Bleeding Fingers Music) to score the show created by Jason Momoa & Thomas Pa‘a Sibbett (Braven, he Last Manhunt) and starring Momoa himself, Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Cliff Curtis, Kaina Makua, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Moses Goods, Brandon Finn, Siua Ikale‘o, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka, Te Kohe Tuhaka and Benjamin Hoetjes. The 9-part historical drama based on true events is set amidst the backdrop of the islands of Hawai‘i and follows warrior Ka‘iana as he tries to unify the islands before Western colonization in the late 18th century. Momoa & Sibett are also executive producing the FIFTH SEASON & Chernin Entertainment production with showrunner Doug Jung (Star Trek Beyond, Confidence), Peter Chernin & Jenno Topping (The Greatest Showman, Hidden Figures), Tracey Cook, Brian Andrew Mendoza (Sweet Girl), Anders Engström & Jim Rowe (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, See), Molly Allen, Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, I Am Legend) and Tim Van Patten (Boardwalk Empire, Franklin), as well as Justin Chon (Blue Bayou, Gook) who also directed the first two episodes. Chief of War will premiere on August 1 exclusively on Apple TV+.
Zimmer’s other recent projects include Joseph Kosinski’s F1, which will be released in theaters nationwide on June 27.
