Jeff Russo (Fargo, Ridley, Legion, The Night Of, The Umbrella Academy, For All Mankind, The Man Who Feel to Earth) has been hired to score the upcoming Paramount+ original series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. The show stars Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, Zoë Steiner, Tig Notaro, Robert Picardo, as well as Holly Hunter who plays the captain and chancellor of Starfleet Academy. Oded Fehr, Mary Wiseman, Gina Yashere, Paul Giamatti and Tatiana Maslany will appear as guest stars in the sci-fi drama, which follows the adventures of a new class of Starfleet cadets as they come of age in one of the most legendary places in the galaxy. Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek Into Darkness, Eagle Eye) and Noga Landau (Nancy Drew, Tau) serve as project’s co-showrunners and are also executive producing the CBS Studios, Secret Hideout & Roddenberry Entertainment production with Gaia Violo (Absentia), Olatunde Osunsanmi (The Fourth Kind, Evidence), Jenny Lumet (Rachel Getting Married, Clarice), Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry & Trevor Roth (Star Trek: Lower Decks & Prodigy), Frank Siracusa (The Handmaid’s Tale, Matlock) and John Weber (Vikings, The Tudors). Russo has previously scored all seasons of Star Trek: Discovery, the first two seasons of Star Trek: Picard and also contributed the main and end titles music for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is expected to premiere in 2025 or 2026 on Paramount+ and has already been renewed for a second season.
