Apple TV+ announced today that Philip Glass (The Hours, The Illusionist, Notes on a Scandal, Candyman, Kundun), in collaboration with Paul Leonard-Morgan (Limitless, Dredd, Dynasty, Boston Strangler), has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary The Pigeon Tunnel. The film is directed by Errol Morris and centers on the storied life and career of former British spy David Cornwell, better known as John le Carré, author of such spionage novels as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, The Night Manager and The Constant Gardener. Dominic Crossley-Holland & Steven Hathaway and Simon & Stephen Cornwell (A Most Wanted Man, Hotel Artemis) are producing The Ink Factory and Fourth Floor production. Hossein Amini (Drive, The Wings of the Dove) is among the project’s executive producers. Glass has previously collaborated with Morris on the feature documentaries A Brief History in Time, The Thin Blue Line and The Fog of War, while Leonard-Morgan composed the music for the filmmaker’s Wormwood, My Psychedelic Love Story, American Dharma and The B-Side. The Pigeon Tunnel will premiere on October 20, 2023 on Apple TV+.
Glass’ other recent film scoring projects include Godfrey Reggio’s Once Within a Time, which will be released in select theaters this fall by Oscilloscope Laboratories.
