Marco Beltrami (Scream, A Quiet Place, 3:10 to Yuma, Logan,Ford v. Ferrari, The Hurt Locker) has been tapped to score the upcoming supernatural horror movie The Nun 2. The sequel to 2018’s The Nun (directed by Corin Hardy and scored by Abel Korzeniowski) is directed by Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Curse of La Llarona) and stars Taissa Farmiga, Storm Reid, Anna Popplewell, Jonas Bloquet and Katelyn Rose Downey. No plot details have been announced yet. Akela Cooper (M3GAN, Malignant) wrote the screenplay, with revisions by Ian Goldberg & Richard Naing (Fear the Walking Dead, The Autopsy of Jane Doe). Atomic Monster’s James Wan (Aquaman, The Conjuring) and The Safran Company’s Peter Safran (Shazam!, The Suicide Squad) are producing the New Line Cinema production. Beltrami has confirmed his involvement during a recent interview on Film Music Live. The Nun 2 is set to be released on September 8, 2023 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
As previously reported, Beltrami also has Len Wiseman’s Ballerina (co-scored with Anna Drubich) coming up. His other recent feature projects include Chris McKay’s Renfield (currently playing in theaters nationwide) and John Woo’s Silent Night.
