Singer/songwriter, rapper and composer Meshell Ndegeocello (Queen Sugar, Lackawanna Blues, BMF (Black Mafia Family), Our Kind of People, Disappearing Acts) has provided the original score for the upcoming Netflix original film Doing Life. The movie is written and directed by Tyler Perry (The Six Triple Eight, Diary of a Black Woman) ) and stars Naomi Baker, Jay Reeves, Tamberla Perry, Jasmine Sargent, Karen Obilom, Lucky Johnson,Cali Rae Benard, Danielle Moné Truitt, Marley Jade Benard and Cornell Young IV. The drama explores the life of a single mother fighting for survival and a reformed ex-con with untapped talents who forge an unexpected bond. Perry is also producing the project with Tony L. Strickland (Straw) and Angi Bones (Tyler Perry’s Duplicity, Madea’s Destination Wedding). Doing Life will premiere on October 2, 2026 exclusively on Netflix.
