Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shape of Water, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech, Jurassic World Rebirth, Godzilla, Frankenstein, The Queen, Philomena) has been hired to score the upcoming drama The Social Reckoning. The film is written and directed by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, A Few Good Men) and stars Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong (as Mark Zuckerberg), Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Bill Burr, Anna Lambe, Portia Doubleday, Nelson Franklin, Aidan Laprete, Kelley Pereira and Patrick Fischler. The sequel to David Fincher’s 2010 feature The Social Network (scripted by Sorkin and scored by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross who received their first Academy Award for their music) tells the true story of how young Facebook engineer Frances Haugen enlists the help of Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets. Sorkin is also producing the project with Todd Black (The Pursuit of Happyness, The Equalizer), Peter Rice (28 Years Later, Warfare) and Stuart Besser (The Trial of the Chicago 7, The People Under the Starirs). The Social Reckoning is set to be released in theaters nationwide on October 9, 2026 by Sony Pictures.
Desplat’s other recent projects include Tarik Saleh’s Eagles of the Republic, which opened in French and Swedish theaters last fall and will be released in select U.S. theaters on April 17 by Cohen Media Group.
