Volker Bertelmann (All Quiet on the Western Front, Conclave,Dune: Prophecy, LionHotel Mumbai, AdriftA House of Dynamite, The AmateurThe Day of the JackalOne Life) has signed on to score the upcoming French 2-part biographical drama De Gaulle: Tilting Iron and De Gaulle: The Sovereign Edge (La Bataille de Gaulle). The films are directed by Antonin Baudry (The Wolf’s Call) and stars Simon Abkarian, Simon Russell Beale, Florian Lesieur, Mathieu Kassovitz, Loïc Corbery, Benoît Magimel, Niels Schneider, Anamaria Vartolomei, Félix Kysyl, Kacey Mottet Klein, Karim Leklou, Tom Mison, Thierry Thermitte, Campbell Scott, Pip Torrens, Grégoire Colin, Daniel Betts and Stephen Campbell Moore and Anthony Calf. The movies chronicle the rise of Charles de Gaulle, the legendary French army officer who led the French resistance against Nazi Germany during World War II and eventually became president of France.Baudry also co-wrote the screenplay with Bérénice Vila. Jérôme Seydoux (Coda, Benedetta), Ardavan Safaee (Parthenope, La belle epoque) and Axelle Boucaï (The Mad Women’s Ball) are producing the Pathe production. De Gaulle: Tilting Iron is set to open in French theaters on June 10, 2026 and De Gaulle: The Sovereign Edge will be released on July 3, 2026.
