Also opening semi-wide in around 700 theaters is the crime thriller Violent Ends written and directed by John-Michael Powell and starring Billy Magnussen, James Badge Dale, Alexandra Shipp, Nick Stahl, Kate Burton and Ray McKinnon. Opening in select U.S. theaters (as a double feature with Hallow Road) is the French/Belgian thriller Vincent Must Die (Vincent doit mourir) directed by Stéphan Castang and starring Karim Leklou and Vimala Pons. The film’s original music is composed by John Kaced (Prosper). The composer has released a soundtrack album featuring his score last year (visit Amazon or any other major digital music services to stream/download). The movie, which follows an average guy who is violently assaulted by an intern out of the blue, which soon develops into escalating attacks by random strangers for seemingly no reason, was opened in French theaters in late 2023 following a premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and is also being released by XYZ Films.

Also opening in select theaters is the horror thriller Self-Help co-written and directed by Erik Bloomquist and starring Jake Weber, Landry Bender, Amy Hargreaves and Madison Lintz. Haim Mazar (The Iceman, SneakerheadsWoke, The Taking of Deborah LoganDesperation Road, I Am Wrath, Half Baked: Totally High) has composed the film’s original music. Opening in New York today before expanding to Los Angeles and other major U.S. markets next Friday, November 7 is the he animated feature Little Amélie or the Character of Rain (Amelie et la metaphysique des tubes) directed by Maïlys Vallade & Liane-Cho Han and based on Amélie Nothomb’s autobiographical novel The Character of Rain. The film’s original music is composed by Mari Fukuhara (Rinco’s Restaurant). 22D Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past June when the movie opened in France. Also opening in select U.S. theaters today is the Australian adult animated feature Lesbian Space Princess directed by Emma Hough Hobbs & Leela Varghese and starring  Shabana Azeez, Richard Roxburgh, Bernie Van Tiel, Gemma Chua-Tran, Aunty Donna and Kween Kong. Opening in select theaters today before premiering on November 14 on Netflix is the comedy drama Nouvelle Vague directed by Richard Linklater and starring Guillaume Marbeck, Zoey Deutch, Aubry Dullin, Antoine Besson, Adrien Rouyard, Jodie Ruth Forest, Benjamin Clery, Bruno Dreyfürst and Matthieu Penchinat. The film doesn’t feature an original score and no soundtrack release is expected. The movie, which reimagines the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s revolutionary New Wave classic Breathless, premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and was released in French theaters earlier this month.

Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the action thriller Safe House directed by Jamie Marshall and starring Lucien Laviscount, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Tan and Ethan Embry. The film’s original music is composed by Sam Ewing (The Walking Dead, Witchboard, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, Last Seen Alive, Beautiful Disaster, Stolen Girl, Victor Crawley). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows six government agents trapped in a high-security safe house after a terrorist attack in downtown Los Angeles as they realize they must survive not just the enemy outside, but the potential traitor among them, is being released by Vertical.
