Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, A Minecraft Movie, The LEGO Movie, The Royal Tenenbaums, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Croods: A New Age, 21/22 Jump Street) has been tapped to score Pixar Animation Studios’ upcoming feature Hoppers. The film is directed by Daniel Chong (We Bare Bears) and features the voices of Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm. The movie takes place in a world, in which scientists have discovered how to “hop” human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals, allowing people to communicate with animals as animals . Nicole Paradis Grindle (Incredibles 2) is producing the project, which marks Mothersbaugh’s first feature assignment for Pixar. He has previously scored the studio’s Toy Story short Hawaiian Vacation and several shorts in the Cars Toons series. Hoppers is scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on March 6, 2026 by Walt Disney Pictures.

Another new composer for Pixar’s feature length film.
Hmm, I don’t know if Mark composing for a Pixar movie is such a good idea. Many of his scores in comedy and animation films are having too much Mickey Mouse-ing and way too much oom-pahs in the beat of the music score. The producers might and the director would have to reject his score and find someone to give out good emotional in the music and ignores the comedy.
He’s scored shorts for them before.
Want good emotional cues from him, listen to some cues from Thor: Ragnarok.
