Sony Classical has announced John Williams: The Anthology – Vol. 1 1969-1990, the first installment of a three-part box set that celebrates the legendary composer and his deep body of work. The 22 discs in Volume 1 showcase Williams’ music for 27 films, including the first three Star Wars movie, the first two Indiana Jones installments, Jaws, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman , Born on the Fourth of July, Home Alone, along other titles. Each disc will be housed in a small jacket that can hold four discs, featuring cover graphics that showcase the original artwork, just as it appeared upon its initial release. The Volume 1 box set will be released on July 18 and is now available for pre–order on Amazon. John Williams: The Anthology – Vol. 2 1991-2008 & Vol. 3 2011-2022 will be coming out later this year all three volumes combined will comprise a 75-disc collection celebrating the Academy Award-winning composer.
