Composer Howard Drossin (The Man With the Iron Fists, The Protector, Welcome to Sudden Death, Sonic and the Black Knight) is reuniting with director Spike Lee (Malcolm X, Do the Right Thing, BlacKkKlansman) on the upcoming crime thriller Highest 2 Lowest. The film based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 classic High and Low stars Denzel Washington as a titan music mogul who is targeted with a ransom plot and gets jammed up in a life-or-death moral dilemma. Ilfenesh Hadera, Jeffrey Wright, Ice Spice, Dean Winters, John Douglas Thompson and ASAP Rocky are also starring. Lee also co-wrote the screenplay with William Alan Fox wrote the screenplay. Todd Black (The Equalizer, The Pursuit of Happyness) is producing the project for Escape Artists, alongside Jason Michael Berman (Air, Nine Days) forMandalay Pictures. Drossin has previously scored Lee’s 2018 feature Pass Over and also collaborated with the filmmaker on several shorts. Highest 2 Lowest will premiere this month at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and is set to be released in select theaters on August 22 by A24 before making its streaming debut on September 5 on Apple TV+.
