Butch Vig, best known as the drummer of the rock band Garbage and producer of Nirvana’s hit record Nevermind, has been hired to score the upcoming horror thriller The Third Parent. The film is written and directed by David Michaels and stars Rob Lowe, Crispin Glover, Roselyn Sanchez, Bethany Milner, Rafael de Belligny and Jack Roberts. The movie is based on the popular viral “creepypasta” series by Elias Witherow and follows a middle-aged father who lives with his and children in an idyllic American suburban neighborhood, when a mysterious figure named Tommy Taffy knocks on their door, triggering a reign of terror as he demands the family enact a series of terrifying “life lessons.” Lowe is also producing he project with Spencer Young for Enfant Terrible, alongside Gary Michael Walters (Colette, Vox Lux) for Walters Media Group, as well as Jonathan Halperyn & Daniel Kresmery (Infinity Pool, Chief of Station) for Hero Squared. The Third Parent recently finished principal photography and will be distributed in the U.S. by Bleecker Street. A release in late 2025 or early 2026 is expected. (Variety)
