Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the superhero movie Captain America: Brave New World directed by Julius Onah and starring Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Lumbly, Liv Tyler, Xosha Roquemore and Tim Blake Nelson. The film’s original music is composed by Laura Karpman (The Marvels, Miss Marvel, American Fiction, What If…?, Lovecraft Country, Paris Can Wait, Set It Up). Hollywood Records & Marvel Music have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Wednesday. Also opening nationwide is the family adventure Paddington in Peru directed by Dougal Wilson and starring Ben Whishaw, Hugh Bonneville, Olivia Colman, Emily Mortimer, Antonio Banderas, Julie Walters, Samuel Joslin, Carla Tous, Madeleine Harris, Jim Broadbent and Imelda Staunton. Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, Anna Karenina, V for Vendetta, Kubo and the Two Strings,Darkest Hour) has composed the film’s original music. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as a song performed by Colman last November when the movie opened in the UK. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the romantic comedy Timestalker written and directed by Alice Lowe and starring Lowe herself, Aneurin Barnard, Kate Dickie, Tanya Reynolds, Jacob Anderson and Nick Frost. The film’s original music is composed by Toydrum (Slow Horses, Prevenge, Platform 7, Deep Water, Three Pines, The Banishing). Invada Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score last October when the movie opened in the UK. Also opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD is the Australian sports drama Kid Snow directed by Paul Goldman and starring Billy Howle, Phoebe Tonkin, Tom Bateman, Mark Coles Smith, Shaka Cook, Hunter Page-Lochard and Jack Latorre. Warren Ellis (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, I’m Still Here, Hell or High Water, Mustang, Blonde, The Road) & Peter Knight have composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a washed-up Irish boxer who is faced with a chance to redeem himself when he is offered a rematch against the man he fought a decade prior, opened in Australian theaters last summer and is being released stateside by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
