Dan Romer (Luca, Station Eleven, Maniac, Superman & Lois, Beasts of No Nation, Beasts of the Southern Wild, The Good Doctor) is currently scoring the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic Lilo & Stitch. The film is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) and stars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Maia Kealoha, Tia Carrere, Chris Sanders, Courtney B. Vance and Zach Galifianakis. The movie tells the story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family. Jonathan Eirich (Aladdin, Haunted Mansion) and Dan Lin (It, The LEGO Movie) are producing the project. Alan Silvestri has previously scored the original 2002 animated feature. Lilo & Stitch is set to be released in theaters nationwide on May 23, 2025 by Walt Disney Pictures.
Romer’s other recent projects include NBC’s The Hunting Party, which currently airs every Monday night, as well as Kyle Hausmann-Stokes’ feature My Dead Friend Zoe, which premiered at last year’s SXSW Film Festival and will open in U.S. theaters on February 28.
I was kind of hoping they’d bring Alan Silvestri back, but this isn’t a bad choice.
No Silvestri? What a shame!
