Christopher Bear (of the rock band Grizzly Bear) (Past Lives, Mother, Couch, High MaintenanceSwallowedThe Passenger) has provided the original score for the upcoming comedy Fantasy Life. The film is marks the feature directorial debut of actor Matthew Shear and stars Amanda Peet, Shear himself, Alessandro Nivola, Bob Balaban, Judd Hirsch, Andrea Martin, Holland Taylor, Zosia Mamet, Jessica Harper and Sheng Wang. The movie follows a man who – after an suffering a panic attack after losing his job as a paralegal – stumbles into a job babysitting his psychiatrist’s three granddaughters and develops a relationship with the girls’ mother. Shear also wrote the screenplay. Peet is also producing the project with Charlie Alderman, Chris Dodds, Phil Keefe (I Love My Dad), Emily McCann Lesser, David Bernon (Lemon, Good on Paper) and Sam Slater (Hearts Beat Loud, Adult Beginners). Fantasy Life will premiere this March at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival.

Bear has also recently scored the indie drama Omaha directed by Cole Webley and starring John Magaro, Molly Belle Wright, Talia Balsam and Wyatt Solis, . The film follows two siblings who are unexpectedly woken up by their dad after a family tragedy and taken on a journey across the country. Robert Machoian (The Killing of Two Lovers, The Integrity of Joseph Chambers) wrote the screenplay and Preston Lee produced the movie, which just premiered last month at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and is currently awaiting a distribution deal.
