Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Twisters, Blade Runner 2049, Hidden Figures, Alien: Romulus, Shazam!, The Invisible Man) is returning to score the upcoming martial arts fantasy sequel Mortal Kombat 2. The film is directed by Simon McQuoid and stars Lewis Tan, Karl Urban, Jessica McNamee, Tadanobu Asano, Josh Lawson, Mehcad Brooks, Adeline Rudolph, Damon Herriman, Ludi Lin, Martyn Ford, Tati Gabrielle, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada. No plot details have been announced yet. Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy, Moon Knight) wrote the screenplay based on the video game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias,. McQuoid is also producing the New Line Cinema production with James Wan (Aquaman, The Conjuring), Todd Garner (Isn’t It Romantic, Tag), E. Bennett Walsh (The Kite Runner, Disturbia) and Toby Emmerich (Frequency, His Dark Materials). Wallfisch has previously scored the original 2021 movie. Mortal Kombat 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on October 24, 2025 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Wallfisch’s other recent feature projects include J.C. Chandor’s Kraven the Hunter, which will be released in theaters nationwide on December 13 by Sony Pictures.
