Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the romantic drama It Ends with Us directed by Justin Baldoni and starring Blake Lively, Baldoni himself, Jenny Slate, Amy Morton, Brandon Sklenar and Hasan Minhaj. The film’s original music is composed by Rob Simonsen (Deadpool & WolverineGhostbusters: AfterlifeThe Age of Adaline, The Whale, The Way BackFoxcatcher, (500) Days of Summer) & Duncan Blickenstaff  (Hollywood Stargirl,  Alex, Inc., Reboot). Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score today. Also opening wide is the sci-fi action movie Borderlands co-written and directed by Eli Roth and starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Edgar Ramírez, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon and Jamie Lee Curtis. Steve Jablonsky (Transformers, Deepwater Horizon, The IslandDC League of Super-Pets, Ender’s Game, Desperate Housewives, Skyscraper) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening nationwide is the horror thriller Cuckoo written and directed by Tilman Singer and starring Hunter Schafer, Dan Stevens, Jessica Henwick, Jan Bluthardt, Marton Csókás, Mila Lieu, Proschat Madani, Greta Fernández, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, Kalin Morrow and Konrad Singer. The film’s original music is composed by Simon Waskow (Luz). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score will be announced soon. The movie, which follows a young American woman who travels to the German Alps with her father and stepmother and comes across some dark secrets and gets drawn into a conspiracy involving bizarre experiments, premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival and is being released by Neon.

Opening in around 250 theaters today is the war drama The Last Front written and directed by Julien Hayet-Kerknawi and starring Iain Glen, Sasha Luss, James Downie, Joe Anderson, Emma Dupont, David Calder and Julian Kostov. Frederik Van de Moortel (InsideAnimasJuliet) has composed the film’s original music. Enigma Releasing Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the biographical drama Girl You Know It’s True written and directed by Simon Verhoeven and starring Tijan Njie, Elan Ben Ali, Bella Dayne, Matthias Schweighöfer, Tijan Marei, Graham Rogers and Ashley Dowds. The film’s original music is composed by Segun Akinola (Doctor Who, Murder Is Easy, StephenThe Last Tree9/11: Inside the President’s War Room). Sony Music Germany has released two soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s score, as well as the Milli Vanilli songs when the movie was released in Germany last year. Opening in select theaters today before premiering on Netflix this coming Wednesday, August 14, is the documentary Daughters directed by filmmaker Natalie Rae and social change advocate Angela Patton. Kelsey Lu (Earth Mama) has composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows four girls as they prepare to reunite with their fathers through a special dance at a DC jail, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award in the U.S. Documentary section and before being picked up for worldwide distribution by Netflix.
