Opening semi-wide in around 700 theaters today is the Irish comedy drama Kneecap written and directed by Rich Peppiatt and starring Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh, JJ Ó Dochartaigh, Naoise Ó Cairealláin, Michael Fassbender, Simone Kirby and Josie Walker. The film’s original score is composed by Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante (Criminal Record, Queen Cleopatra). No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which centers on the titular Belfast trio as it becomes the unlikely figurehead of a civil rights movement to save the mother tongue, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released stateside by Sony Pictures Classics.

Opening in select theaters today is the comedy Coup! written and directed by Joseph Schuman & Austin Stark and starring Peter Sarsgaard, Billy Magnussen, Skye P. Marshall and Sarah Gadon. Nathan Halpern (The Rider, Swallow, Emily the Criminal, Minding the Gap, Watcher, In the Same Breath) has composed the film’s original music today.
