This past week, Marco Beltrami (Logan, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma, A Quiet Place, Ford v. Ferrari, The Hurt Locker, The Wolverine) has been recording his score for the upcoming action thriller The Killer. The film is directed by John Woo (Face/Off, Mission: Impossible 2) and stars Omar Sy, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sam Worthington, Saïd Taghmaoui and Diana Silvers. The movie is being described as a reimagining of Woo’s Hong Kong 1989 classic of the same title. No plot details have been revealed yet. Matthew Stuecken & Josh Campbell (10 Cloverfield Lane, Horizon Line) and Eran Creevy (Welcome to the Punch, Collide) wrote the screenplay. Charles Roven (Oppenheimer, Wonder Woman) and Alex Gartner (Uncharted, Get Smart) are producing the project for Atlas Entertainment, alongside Lori Tilkin for A Better Tomorrow Films. Beltrami has previously scored Woo’s last feature, Silent Night. The Killer was originally greenlit by Universal Pictures to premiere as a Peacock original movie. No word yet on a release date.
Also coming up for Beltrami is Len Wiseman’s Ballerina (co-scored with Anna Drubich), which is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on June 6, 2025 by Lionsgate.
