Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the vampire horror movie Abigail directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett and starring Melissa Barrera, Alisha Weir, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, William Catlett, Angus Cloud, Kevin Durand and Giancarlo Esposito. The film’s original music is composed by Brian Tyler (The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, Crazy Rich Asians, Fast & Furious, Yellowstone, Ready or Not). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as an original song by Jean Dawson today. Also opening wide is the action comedy The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Henry Golding, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Til Schweiger and Cary Elwes. Chris Benstead (The Gentlemen, Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant, Wrath of Man, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is expected to be released in the coming weeks by Atlantic Screen Music. Opening in select theaters today is the drama We Grown Now written and directed by Minhal Baig and starring Blake Cameron James, Gian Knight Ramirez, Lil Rel Howery, Jurnee Smollett and S. Epatha Merkerson. The film’s original music is composed by Jay Wadley (I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Swan Song, Franklin, Indignation, Fire Island, I Carry You with Me). Milan Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score (originally scheduled to come out today) in the coming days. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the crime thriller Blood for Dust directed by Rod Blackhurst and starring Scoot McNairy, Nora Zehetne, Ethan Suplee, Stephen Dorff, Amber Rose Mason, Josh Lucas and Kit Harington. Nick Bohun (Kill Shot, Rub) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a former salesman with a dark past desperate to support his family who is lured into drug and gun trafficking for a cartel, is being released by The Avenue.
Opening in a single theater while also premiering on Netflix today is the sci-fi action epic Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver co-written and directed by Zack Snyder and starring Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Ray Fisher, Doona Bae,Staz Nair, Fra Fee and Cleopatra Coleman. The film’s original music is composed by Tom Holkenborg (Mad Max: Fury Road, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Deadpool, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Alita: Battle Angel, Sonic the Hedgehog).
