Kris Bowers (King Richard, Green Book, Secret Invasion, Haunted Mansion, Space Jam: A New Legacy, The Color Purple, Dear White People) has been tapped to score the upcoming animated feature The Wild Robot. The film is written and directed by Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch, The Croods) and features the voices of Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Kit Connor, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Mark Hamill and Ving Rhames. The movie based on the novel of the same title by Peter Brown follows the journey of a robot that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling. Jeff Hermann (The Boss Baby 2: Family Business) is producing the project for DreamWorks Animation. The Wild Robot is scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on September 20, 2024 by Universal Pictures.
Bowers’ other recent feature projects include Reinaldo Marcus Green’s Bob Marley: One Love, which is currently playing in theaters. He also continues to score Netflix’s Bridgerton, which will return for its third season on May 16.
