Nick Chuba (Dr. Death, The Girl from Plainville, Operation Varsity Blues, Appendage) has provided the original score for the upcoming Jordanian drama The Strangers’ Case. The film marks the feature directorial debut of producer Brandt Andersen (Mothers’ Day, Journey to Bethlehem) and stars Yasmine Al Massri, Yahya Mahayni, Omar Sy, Ziad Bakri, Jason Beghe, Constantine Markoulakis, Ayman Samman and Massa Daoud. The movie is set during the Syrian civil war and follows the chain reaction of events involving five five families spanning four continents after tragedy strikes a Syrian family in Aleppo. Andersen also wrote the screenplay and is producing the Philistine Films production with Ossama Bawardi (Wajib, The Teacher), Ryan Busse (Journey to Bethlehem) and Charlie Endean. The Strangers’ Case is premiering today at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival.
Chuba’s other recent projects include FX’s Shogun (co-scored with Atticus & Leopold Ross), which will premiere on February 27, as well as Josh Margolin’s Thelma, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and has been picked up by Magnolia Pictures for a domestic release later this year.
