Jeff Russo (Fargo, Star Trek: Discovery/Picard, Legion, For All Mankind, Love & Death) has composed the original music for the upcoming Netflix limited series Ripley. The show is written and directed by Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List, Searching for Bobby Fischer) and stars Andrew Scott as Tom Ripley, Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood and Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf. The 8-part psychological thriller based on Patricia Highsmith’s bestselling Tom Ripley novels is set in 1960s New York and follows the titular grifter as he is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son to return home. Zaillian is also executive producing the Showtime and Endemol Shine North America production with Garrett Basch (Devs, What We Do in the Shadows), Clayton Townsend (Bridesmaids, Unbroken), Guymon Casady (Steve Jobs, The Terror), Ben Forkner (Deep Water, Good People), Sharon Levy and Philipp Keel. Russo has previously collaborated with Zaillian on the HBO limited series The Night Of. Ripley will premiere on April 4, 2024 on Netflix.
Russo’s other upcoming projects include new seasons of Paramount+’s Star Trek: Discovery and Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy. He also recently scored Chiwetel Ejiofor’s feature Rob Peace, which is premiering today at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
