gamma. & WaterTower Music have released the first song from the soundtrack for the new film adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel and the stage musical The Color Purple. Available to stream/download now on all major digital music services is Lifeline written, co-produced (with Tricky Stewart, Marshmello & and TMS) and performed by Alicia Keys. Also listen to the track after the jump. A full soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie performed by cast members Fantasia, Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo, Danielle Brooks, H.E.R. & Halle Bailey, as well as original material inspired by the film by Mary J. Blige, Megan Thee Stallion, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Jorja Smith, Keyshia Cole, Coco Jones, Ciara, Mary Mary & Missy Elliott, will be coming out on December 15. Nick Baxter, Stephen Bray & director Blitz Bazawule serve as the film’s executive music producers and Quincy Jones and Scott Sanders are also executive producing the album. A separate soundtrack featuring Kris Bowers’ original score will be coming out on December 25. The Color Purple directed.by Bazawule also stars Corey Hawkins, Aunjanue Ellis, Jon Batiste, Elizabeth Marvel and Louis Gossett Jr. The musical drama will be released in theaters nationwide on December 25 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
