Columbia Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1983 musical drama Yentl co-written and directed by Barbra Streisand and starring Streisand herself, Mandy Patinkin and Amy Irving. The album features the Streisand-performed original songs from the movie written by Michel Legrand (The Thomas Crown Affair, Summer of ’42, Never Say Never Again The Umbrellas of Cherbourg) and featuring lyrics by Alan Bergman & Marilyn Bergman, including previously unreleased demos that Streisand recorded in her living room accompanied by Legrand on piano. The 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition will be released digitally and physically on October 27, 2023. Visit Amazon to pre-order the 2-CD edition and digital version. Legrand and the Bergmans received the Academy Award in the Original Song Score category and were also nominated for Papa, Can You Hear Me? and The Way He Makes Me Feel in the Original Song category.
