Jed Palmer (UpgradeAnimals, Black Snow, OtherLife, The Infinite Man) is scoring the upcoming Australian thriller The Royal Hotel. The film is directed by Kitty Green (The Assistant) and stars Julia Garner, Hugo Weaving and Jessica Henwick. The movie tells the story of two friends who run out of cash while backpacking in Australia and must take jobs in an exploitative pub to fund their trip home. Green also co-wrote the screenplay with Oscar Redding (Van Diemen’s Land). Emile Sherman & Iain Canning (The King’s Speech, The Power of the Dog) are producing the See-Saw Films production with Liz Watts (Animal Kingdom, The King) and Scarlett Pictures’ Kath Shelper (The New Boy, The Turning). The Royal Hotel will screen next month at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and will be distributed in the U.S by Neon.
