Composer Aaron Zigman (Bridge of Terabithia, The Proposal, Sex and the City, Escape from Planet Earth, Wakefield, The Ugly Truth) is reteaming with director Nick Cassavetes on the upcoming thriller God Is a Bullet. The film starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Maika Monroe, January Jones, Jamie Foxx, Karl Glusman, Paul Johansson & David Thornton follows a detective who quits the police force after finding his ex-wife murdered and daughter kidnapped by a satanic cult and infiltrates the cult to hunt down the charismatic cult leader with the help of the cult’s only female escapee. Cassavetes also wrote the screenplay based on the novel of the same title by Boston Teran. Michael Mendelsohn (Prisoners of the Ghostland, Running with the Devil) is producing the project for Patriot Pictures, alongside Donald V. Allen. Zigman has previously scored all of Cassavetes’ features since 2002’s John Q, including The Notebook, My Sister’s Keeper, Alpha Dog, Yellow and The Other Woman. God Is a Bullet will be released in U.S. theaters on June 23 by Wayward Entertainment.
Zigman’s other recent feature projects include Brent Cote’s horror film Possessions, which premiered at this year’s Mammoth Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date. He is also expected to return to score the second season of (HBO) Max’s And Just Like That…, which will debut on June 22.
