Germaine Franco (Encanto, Tag, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Vida, Little) has composed the original music for the new Netflix original film The Mother. The movie is directed by Niki Caro (Mulan, Whale Rider, North Country) and stars Jennifer Lopez, Joseph Fiennes, Gael García Bernal, Omari Hardwick, Lucy Paez, Paul Raci, Yvonne Senat Jones, Jesse Garcia and Edie Falco. The action thriller revolves around a military-trained assassin who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she’s never met from ruthless criminals gunning for revenge. Misha Green (Lovecraft Country, Underground), Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton, World Trade Center) and Peter Craig (The Batman, The Town) wrote the screenplay based on a story by Green. Lopez & Green are also producing the project with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas & Benny Medina (Hustlers, Marry Me), Roy Lee (It, The Lego Movie), Marc Evans (Instant Family, The Old Guard) and Miri Yoon (Don’t Worry Darling, Behaving Badly). The Mother will premiere on May 12, 2023 on Netflix.
