Tangelene Bolton (Warrior Nun, Unseen, Let’s Be Tigers) is the new composer of the Comedy Central original series Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens. She is scoring the third season of the show created by Awkwafina & Teresa Hsiao and starring Awkwafina herself, BD Wong, Lori Tan Chinn and Bowen Yang. The comedy is inspired by Awkwafina’s real-life growing up in Queens, NY and follows the title character as she navigates young adulthood in New York City, and relies on her unbreakable bond with her father, grandmother and cousin. Bolton has brought on Grammy Award-winning music producer & engineer Hotae Alexander Jang (known for his collaborations with Beyonce, Solange, Raphael Saadiq, John Legend, among others) to collaborate on the new season’s sound. Awkwafina and Hsiao (Joy Ride) are also executive producing the MTV Entertainment Studios production with Sean Fogel, Peter Principato (Central Intelligence, Black-ish), Itay Reiss (Like a Boss, Hoops) and Andrew Lutin. Joe Wong has previously composed the music for the first season of the comedy and TOKiMONSTA has scored 2021’s second season. Season 3 of Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens will premiere on April 26, 2023 on Comedy Central.

Bolton’s recent projects include the second season of Warrior Nun, which is now available to stream on Netflix. A soundtrack album featuring the Filipina-American composer’s score has been released by Netflix Music.
