Joseph Shirley has recently been scoring the third season of Lucasfilm’s Disney+ original series The Mandalorian. The composer has previously provided additional music to the first two seasons of the show as part of Ludwig Göransson’s team. While the full Season 3 music credits have not been confirmed yet, our understanding is that it will be similar to last year’s The Book of Boba Fett with Shirley being credited as the score composer and Göransson for providing the themes. The new season of the show created by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito follows the title character as he crosses paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together. Season 3 of The Mandalorian will premiere on March 1, 2023 on Disney+.
Shirley (The Mysterious Benedict Society, Bad Trip, Fairfax) has also recently scored Michael B. Jordan’s Creed III, which will be released in theaters on March 3. Göransson has been working on his music for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer in recent months.
So, he’s going to be doing all of that b. now and March 1? That’s fast!
Oh, great, the composer of literally the worst action cue in Star Wars history is back. 🤦♂️ Why are they skimping out on music for the most popular Star Wars show? Is Ludwig that busy?
To be fair, there were some great pieces in Boba Fett that were not the main theme by Ludwig.
Just out of curiosity, which cue are you talking about here?
