Bryce Dessner (The Two Popes, Cyrano, IrresistibleThe Kitchen) of the rock band The National has composed the original score for the upcoming drama A Good Person. The film is written and directed by Zach Braff (Garden State, Going in Style) and stars Florence Pugh, Morgan Freeman, Molly Shannon, Celeste O’Connor, Chinaza Uche and Zoe Lister-Jones. The movie revolves around a woman whose life falls apart following her involvement in a fatal accident and centers on the unlikely relationship she forms with her would-be father-in-law that gives her a fighting chance to put herself back together. Braff, Pugh & Freeman are also producing the Killer Films and Elevation Films production with Noah Segal (Alice, Darling), Christine Vachon (Carol, Far from Heaven) and Pamela Koffler (Still Alice, Colette). Dessner’s music from the project will be released by Mercury Classics’ new Soundtrack and Score label. A Good Person is currently scheduled to be released in theaters nationwide on March 24, 2023 by United Artists.

Dessner’s other recent projects also include the drama Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths (co-scored with director Alejandro G. Iñárritu), which will be released in U.S. theaters on November 4 before premiering on Netflix on December 16. He also has Nicole Riegel’s Dandelion (co-scored with Aaron Dessner) coming up.
