Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter Justin Tranter will serve as the executive music producer on the upcoming comedy drama The Young King. He will also be contributing original music to the film, which marks the feature directorial debut of Larin Sullivan and will star Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon and Barbie Ferreira. The movie follows an aspiring drag king who comes to Las Vegas to reconnect with her estranged father and to make her debut performance in America’s biggest drag king revue. Sullivan also wrote the screenplay based on his short of the same title. Clemons is also producing the project with Corporate Witchcraft’s Kim Bailey & Isabel Marden (Clementine). The Young King is set to begin production in early 2023 in Las Vegas. (Variety & Deadline)

As previously reported, Tranter who other recent film projects include Netflix’s Purple Hearts and Billy Porter’s Anything’s Possible is also writing and executive producing new music for the upcoming Paramount+ original series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.
